Once upon a time, Count Marc des Courtis, our grandfather, after having travelled the world's seas in the Royale, bought the important property of Chambiers over a century ago. He installed his family there for the hunting season and the summer months. A model estate, nearly a thousand hectares, the land and a large part of the forest are exploited.
To harvest the resin on the pine plots he brought in Landes resin growers. It is not uncommon to still find during walks in the forest these terracotta pots which were used to harvest the fat and creamy gem. The forest, the farms, the vegetable garden and the orchard provide in abundance what to live in almost autarky.
